If only unmasking were as simple as flipping a switch.
After a lifetime of masking, it can seem utterly impossible to know, or love, the person underneath.
There may not be a single switch, but there are clear steps forward.
You’re closer than you think, and every step makes it clearer. Unmasking happens at your pace, in a space where you can be witnessed, held, and accepted in the full complexity of who you are.

Hi, I’m Laury!
I support differently-wired people reconnect with and express who they authentically are.
I am a California–based Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist offering a creative, playful, and relational approach to therapy in dark times like these. I specialize in supporting fellow artists, creatives, neurodivergent people (ADHD / AuDHD / Autistic), and highly sensitive people (HSP) heal from overworked nervous systems and reconnect to their creative power.
I support clients in rediscovering flow, deepening self-compassion, and building sustainable creative practices and lives that honor their unique nervous system differences and sensory needs.

If jazz was therapy.
If you have tried traditional talk-therapy, and found that it hasn’t “worked”, it may be time to get creative.
My approach to therapy goes beyond words, to get to the heart of things. Though words are welcome as they come, they are just de-centered, with the permission to go beyond them. After all, our very first human expression is a cry. Then we grow up, and have experiences in our lives that leave us utterly speechless. Grief. Trauma. A late neurodivergent diagnosis might be the catalyst for you (it was certainly for me).
After a lifetime of masking yourself, it can seem utterly impossible to love “yourself”, when that person is someone who hasn’t felt loved, or related to. You may be looking for a warm space to land. My approach is just that, warm and deeply understanding, because I know what it’s like to be late-diagnosed neurodivergent. I know the impact of being misunderstood over a lifetime.
Sometimes, we grow up and realize we didn’t get to experience the childhood we needed. Together, with the full range of creative possibilities, I invite back the freedom of our childhoods.

How it works.

“Creativity belongs to the artist in each of us. To create means to relate. The root meaning of the word art is ‘to fit together’ and we all do this every day.”
